Summer Penis and Vagina Tips

Summer time is a season many of us look forward to, but the heat, sun, and activities we get up to don′t come without their risks. Here are a few tips to look after your genitalia (and body in general) whilst you enjoy yourself through the summer months and on holiday.

1: Wear loose clothing where possible

Actually this is a good all year round tip! Tight and/or synthetic clothes around your genital area help create a better environment for unwanted bacteria to grow. When you add hot weather to the mix, the chances are increased. Allow the fresh air to flow properly with breathable, loose, and cotton fabrics this summer to avoid discomfort and infection. Alternate between tight and loose clothing if you like those super skinny jeans.

Towels and wet swim wear are also known to create the right environment for pesky bacteria. Think about maybe taking extra swim wear to change into so you′re not soggy for ages after swimming. You can put it over the top of the wet swim wear and then slip the other from underneath. No need for a beach hut!

2: That summer fling

Summer flings are exciting and often fleeting, but make sure you stay safe. This may seem like an obvious one. However, in the heat of the moment on a summer’s day it’s easy to forget that the lovely person you had some fun with on holiday could have an STI. They might not know they have one, or it could even be the other way round and you might have one ready to hop onto them. Either way, as always, the best thing to do is to have condoms and/or dental damns handy to protect yours or their sexy parts.

3: Sun burn

Sounds painful, I know. Going to a nudey beach, streaking, or skinny dipping with your pals is all fun and games until you forget to look after a very important part of your body. Sun cream can be used on and around your genitalia as long as you don’t get it near your urethra (wee hole) or the opening of your vagina (if having a vagina applies to you). Be aware that sun creams are usually oil based. This means they could erode a condom if it’s put onto a sun cream covered penis. Make sure you wash sun cream off before using protection and remember to reapply afterwards!

4: Smoothy smooth skin

Some of us like to shave for the summer. Although it’s something we try to get out of the way as fast as possible, it can require a lot of time. To minimise the chances of irritated skin, razor bump, and/or accidentally cutting your skin try:
To shave with the grain not against it.
Using high quality razors, like a woman’s electric razor, or any razor with a guard around the blades.
After shaving, pat dry gently and avoid as much friction as you can.
Finally, the less often you shave, the lower the chances of irritation. Other hair removal methods like waxing last longer and are worthwhile considering if you think you’ll be wanting to shave on a regular basis.
But of course, hair wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t supposed to be, it’s natural. So letting it do its thing is a completely valid option too.
It′s YOUR BODY, it′s YOUR CHOICE.
